Puraka Masks was founded by a group of parents following the Pacific-coast fire season of 2018. One of our founders, an asthmatic, first noticed a tightness in his chest after a bike ride. He researched and found that in fire smoke, there are very small, hazardous PM2.5 particulates (aerosol particles) that are known to cause cancer amongst other serious diseases and conditions.
That group of parents, who held day jobs as engineers, healthcare professionals and compliance specialists, founded Puraka on the belief that wearing a mask is the best thing you can do to keep you healthy and safe in environments.
Puraka Masks was founded to keep families safe from wildfire smoke. Now, they're the best-selling ASTM F3502-certified and CDC-recommended reusable masks available to shield from smoke, pollution, and viruses like COVID-19.
